The tail is long, covered with fur with a fringe. In a calm state, it is lowered down. The hair on the dog’s body is of medium length, coarse, straight. On the ears, paws and tail – long. The color is white with brown or red spots, can be tricolor (with a red tint) or saddle, which is less desirable.

Character

Breeders have been developing the hunting instinct in Drent dogs for centuries . Today, they hardly need to be trained – nature has reinforced all the necessary skills. In the Netherlands, they are called “dogs for intelligent hunters”. They do not bark in vain, they only bark in case of some problem, they are friendly to people, but at the same time they are excellent guards and, if necessary, protectors. They are devoted to their owners, love their home, and never try to run away. They get along well with children, even small ones. They are calm with small pets, including cats, which is rare for hunting breeds.

Care
Dogs are unpretentious and do not require special care. Standard ear cleaning and nail trimming procedures are carried out as needed. The fur is combed with a hard brush once a week, more often during shedding. There is no need to bathe the animal often, the fur is excellent at self-cleaning.

Content
Dogs can live both in an apartment and outside the city – both in a house and in warm enclosures. But outside the city, of course, is preferable – animals need many hours of walks, which are difficult to provide in other conditions. It is very desirable to go hunting with them or at least to nature, to water bodies.

Drentsche Partridge Dogs enjoy swimming . It is also useful to take the dog with you on a bike ride or jog.
