Pedigree of the dog
People have passports that prove their identity. Of course, everything is a little different with dogs, but for breeding dogs it is simply necessary to know the animal’s ancestors. And that means there needs to be a kind of passport where you can look them up. Such a document is called a pedigree.

If any dog can have a veterinary passport, then only a purebred dog can have a pedigree. At the same time, the “piece of paper” itself is practically worthless. Money for a puppy with a pedigree is taken not for the “piece of paper”, but for the work that breeders do to select pairs, for the fact that it is the pedigree that guarantees the dog’s pedigree.
A dog pedigree is a document that confirms the origin. There should be an organization logo on the front, and the pedigree also includes all the information about the pet (breed, nickname, gender, date of birth, color, brand), the breeder and the owner. The document also states the relatives on both lines of the pet. In the pedigree, males are always listed above females.
How to get?
To obtain documents for your pet, you first need to buy it from a reputable breeder. The puppy must be the result of a planned mating , all information about which (including the necessary tests and certificates of training, if required) is submitted to the RKF. Together with the puppy, you are given a puppy card, which is later changed to a pedigree.
You can ask the breeder to immediately make a pedigree for your pet, but most likely, the papers for the litter have not yet been submitted to the federation. Usually, pedigrees are received when the puppies reach six months of age, then the documents should be in order and you will be given the coveted sheet without any problems. If you are in Moscow, then it is easy to exchange the puppy card for a pedigree yourself, and if in another city, then you need to contact the nearest dog breeding club and ask for help with the exchange.
Pedigree dog without documents
Sometimes it happens that puppies are left without papers confirming their breed. Most often, this happens due to conflicts between the owners of females and males related to the payment for mating, or if one of the parents of the puppies does not have a pedigree or has not passed the tests required for mating. It happens that there is no positive assessment from the exhibition or the dog was initially defective and should not have been allowed to breed. It is up to you to decide whether to buy such a puppy. But animals without documents, even if they look typical representatives of the breed, should not cost the same as puppies from parents whose owners have completed all the necessary steps to register the litter.
